Canal cruises / private tours / specials

Q: What if it rains?

Our canal boats can be covered (and heated on cold days) in case of bad weather with an ingenious roof construction that is suitable for the many low bridges that are so significant for the beautiful historic city of Leiden. The cruise can therefore continue whatsoever, except in case of storm or ice formation on the canals.

Q:  How far in advance do I need to provide the definitive number of people regarding the catering?

You can change the amount of persons up to 72 hours in advance of departure.

Q: How can I pay?

You can pay with debit card, credit card or cash on the day of sailing at our office on the Blauwpoortsbrug. We can bring a mobile PIN device when your group embarks and disembarks at a different location than ours (Blauwpoortsbrug 1, Leiden).

Q: Can we pay via invoice?

Invoicing is only possible, in consultation, for companies and organisations. Invoicing is only done on our terms and conditions, feel free to ask.

Q: Can I bring a dog with me on a canal cruise?

Q: Do you take 13 passengers on a 12-person boat?

No. Dutch laws make this illegal. Babies are also considered passengers in this case.

Q: Is there a soundsystem on board?

No. It is not allowed to play amplified music on board.

Q: Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Yes. You can bring your own food and drinks with you on a canal cruise, private tour or special. You do need to clean the boat yourself and waste must be taken with you afterwards.

Q: Up to how far in advance can I order drinks or sandwiches?

Drinks up to 5 minutes before departure. Sandwiches up to an hour in advance via our website.

Q: What if I have difficulty walking?

A stairway of about 10 steps needs to be descended in order to get down to the boarding area. After this you have to cross a small step to get on board. We ask you to assess whether you are capable of doing this.

Q: Do you provide an digital audio guide during the cruise?

No. Our skippers can tell you everything about the city in Dutch and English. In addition, we have booklets included in your canal cruise (1 booklet per pair). The booklets come in Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Russian. You can keep the booklet afterwards, so it's a nice souvenir!

Q: Can I bring my buggy/wheelchair on board?

No, we store buggies and wheelchairs safely for you in our storage area which is not accessible to unauthorized personnel.
