Renting a boat: easy and comfortable
Rent one of our sloops and cruise the Leiden canals or the beautiful Kagerplassen! Our sloops are electric, quiet and easy to operate. A boating license is not required.
Delicacies on board
Complete your cruise with one of our lunch boxes filled with tasty sandwiches and a nice drink. Or choose from our selection of snacks. When booking online, you can choose directly from our selection.
Sail by yourself
Our sloops can accommodate 6, 8 or 12 people. The skipper must be at least 21 years old (valid identification required). We will help you on your way before departure with a clear explanation of sailing, the rules on the water and the best routes. In our multilingual audio app, for which you will receive a code with your booking confirmation, you can listen to and view route information in your selected language on your own device during your cruise. The app also offers an additional walking route through the historic city centre and can be used as a city map.
Booking
You book and pay for your sloop directly online. Be at Blauwpoortsbrug 1 in Leiden approx. 15 minutes before the reserved departure time. You pay the deposit just before departure when handling the administration. The deposit is €150 (down payment on the €250 deductible) and can be paid in cash or by PIN. If you pay the deposit by debit card and the boat is returned in the same good condition, we will return the deposit directly to your account.
Leiden is perfect for a two-hour boat trip. Fancy a longer tour? Why not combine a cruise through the city centre with a trip to the Kagerplassen lake area.
Navigate yourself
We have various routes available for you, including boating through Leiden as well as cruising outside the city. You can also prepare your trip at home using the routeplanner. With this free app, you can follow the mapped route using your mobile phone!
The sailing area for our rental boats covers Leiden, the Kagerplassen and the Vlietlanden.
Leiden
If you opt for the two-hour route, you can enjoy the vast diversity of Leiden at your own pace. Start out on the ‘Singel’ canals and continue onto Oude Vest where you will pass the Leidse Schouwburg theatre and De Lakenhal Museum. You will subsequently cruise through the cosy city centre with its beautiful historic facades and atmospheric outdoor cafés. The route also includes a section of both the New and Old Rhine rivers.
Kagerplassen
The Kagerplassen lake area is a beautiful location to include in your boat trip. Taking at least three hours, you can combine Joppe lake with a magnificent city centre experience.
After a transition period, we stopped issuing our 10-hour card several years ago. Already issued 10-cards are no longer usable as of 2023.
Deposit: When you purchased your 10-hour card, you paid a deposit. We will return this deposit to the account number you provided after returning your original card to us at Blauwpoortsbrug.
If you wish to hire a sloop, this can be done in the regular way via our website.

Moving or cancelling
You can change or cancel your reservation up to one day before departure. Up to 72 hours before departure the processing and administrative costs are €10,- per boat. Up to 24 hours before departure these costs are €20,- per sloop.
Bad weather management
Cancellation in case of rain or strong wind is possible free of charge. On the day of departure, the landlord determines whether the weather conditions are such that you can cancel free of charge.
